De Peugeot Satelis 250 is uitgerust met een bijzonder betrouwbare Piaggio QUASAR (QUA. S.A.R., Quarter Liter Smooth Augmented Range) en wordt gemaakt door Piaggio sinds 2003. De Piaggio QUASAR motor werd geïntroduceerd in 2003 als een watergekoelde 4-kleps viertakt motor met een cilinderinhoud van 244 cm3. Het is gebaseerd op de LEADER-motor, en was bedoeld om het motorengamma uit te breiden. Intern is de deze geheel nieuw ontworpen, met een interne startmotor, een meer compacte vliegwiel, een grotere olietoevoer, enz. De eerste motoren zijn ontworpen met carburateurs en voldoen aan de Euro 2-norm. Vanaf 2005 werden de eerste motoren gebouwd met een indirecte benzine-injectie en een katalysator en voldoet dus aan de Euro 3-norm. Sinds 2007/2008 wordt er ook een versie met 124 cm3 en met 278 cm3 cilinderinhoud aangeboden. Quasar motoren worden natuurlijk gebruikt in de Peugeot Satelis maar ook in onderstaande voertuigen.
